Geopoly — Mapping Global Stories of Resilience

A platform built in collaboration with National Geographic for collecting and mapping real stories of resilience from around the world.

Geopoly places first-person stories on a map — a platform for collecting narratives of resilience from contributors globally and giving them spatial and geographic context, built in collaboration with National Geographic.

The core design problem is one of geography and storytelling at once: a story without a place is just text, and a map without stories is just geometry. Geopoly's data model treats each submission as a located narrative — geocoded, categorized, and rendered back as an explorable spatial collection rather than a flat list.

What it does

  • Collects and geolocates first-person story submissions from contributors worldwide
  • Renders submissions as an explorable map-based collection
  • Provides a structured intake flow for a non-technical contributor base
